Change

If there is one thing that I can say about the disaster that has struck Japan, it is that it has shown how far we have come as well as our ability to change. Not long earthquake/tsunami hit, President Obama gave a speech saying how our hearts were with our good friend Japan. This is a very good example of a rhetorical situation in that it does in fact make an argument. It just about 70 years ago that we were in a very devastating war with this country and many people on both sides died during this time and we even dropped an atomic bomb on them to end the war. When I think about this speech, it reminds me of when President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave his infamous speech to congress the day after the bombings of Pearl Harbor. I also think that it was a very good idea on the part of the President, as in this time of need, it is important for America to help out. It is also very important that in this current time, when a lot of countries do not have great feelings towards America, to show that we are there and support countries that are in need.
